1864- US Congress passes Coinage Act which mandates inscription "IN GOD WE TRUST" be placed on all coins minted as US Currency.
1876 - Boston Red Stockings defeat Philadelphia Athletics 6-5 in first National League baseball game.
1912 - Pravda, the "voice" of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, begins publications in St. Petersburg.
1970 - First Earth Day celebrated. "Woo Hoo. Fantastic"
1975- Barbara Walters sings 5 year $5 Million contract with ABC, making her the highest paid TV newsperson.
