1788 - Massachusetts becomes the 6th State to ratify the Constitution

1933 - The 20th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution goes into effect.

1952 - Elizabeth II becomes the Queen upon the death of the father, George VI. At the exact moment of succession, she was in a tree house at the Treetops Hotel in Kenya.

1988 - Washington National Airport renamed Ronald Reagan National Airport.
